Getting Through Life With Music

We have our days where we don’t feel anything, or we feel much unmotivated. During these days, we tend to sit around all day doing what we normally do. What do you do to get motivated again? In my case, I listen to music. The music I listen to is the upbeat ones that can help me get back on my feet and feel motivated again.

Music has been with me since I was a kid. My mother introduced Lea Salonga to me, and that’s when my love for music started. The song I love the most that was sung by Lea Salonga is a Disney song entitled “Reflection.” Since then, I have been singing a lot and even tried to learn a couple of musical instruments. I learned how to sing when my mother applied me for voice lessons.

I am the type of person who doesn’t know how to express myself very well. Music helped me express what I feel. Knowing many songs and being open to many genres, I have grown accustomed to different types of emotions through the songs. Different lyrics, beats, rhythm, melodies, and instrumentals always got me interested in songs, and I never got bored with them.

What got me interested in writing lyrics is when I heard a piece in a game called “Piano Tiles 2”. The piece's title is “Bluestone Alley.” When I first heard the piece, words came into my mind, and I had to write them. Despite not being pitch-perfect, I still wrote out lyrics without adding any melody or instrumental for my lyrics until recently. When I was thinking about what lyrics to write, a melody came into my head, and I wrote out lyrics based on that. Even though I am not pitch-perfect to create a full song, I recorded the melody I had in my mind to remember how the lyrics would sound like. I hope one day I would be able to make my own songs and share them with the world.
